Radon is invisible, radioactive, and in one third of all homes tested in this region. Because you can’t hear, smell, or see radon gas, the only way to gauge its presence is to test with a specialized unit.
You breathe the air in your workplace or home all day, and our multi-day testing allows us to see an average exposure, instead of a moment in time which could be artificially high or low depending on a variety of soil and weather conditions.
Exposure to radon gas is the leading cause of lung cancer in non-smokers in America, so the EPA recommends testing every home every two years to make sure you mitigate your exposure however possible.
The EPA recommends testing your home or building every two years, and after remodeling, or if you start using the lower level of your space.
Your first test establishes your current radon exposure. If your levels are elevated, we use the data we’ve collected to design and price a custom radon reduction system for you.
All of our installers are also trained to the highest certifiable level in the State of Ohio, so after your installation is complete, they’re qualified to begin your post-installation test. This (second) 48 hour test will confirm that your new radon system is working how we think it should.
Breathe easy. We’ve got this.
When you invite us out for that first short appointment, we’ll find the lowest living area of the building to set-up one or more powered test sets. These small units must remain undisturbed for 48 hours or more, taking one radon reading per hour to establish the average volume of radon in the air you breathe.
Some counties offer free DIY passive radon test kits. These are a great option, but with less key data than a licensed specialist (highest certification available) can extract and use. Our Yeti Radon & Environmental specialists will get you results quickly, and send you the accurate hour-by-hour report we use to establish not just a high point (often during weather fluctuations), but your rolling average.
This detailed information is used to determine the best course of action for your unique situation and property.
Breathe easy. We test over a dozen homes every day.
